“During my twenty seven years in the photographic industry, I have travelled the world extensively and worked in many contrasting and often divergent countries. Seeing, touching, feeling, hearing and tasting so many different cultures, has given me a deeper understanding of the value of portraying honesty and meaning in every image I capture. I want to explore the richness and depth of everything I see. Being a woman, helps me to understand the female/male view of everything, which, I believe, allows for a deeper empathy with my subjects, and brings a disciplined, sensitive quality to my pictures. Whether it’s a car’s sheet metal travelling at high speed, the reflective value of hair in movement, the inflection of a mouth as it turns upwards in recognition, or, light flashing across a smile. I love the differences, the ambiguities, and the relevance of the simple message. I want my pictures to be inspirational, but also insightful. To tell the story…..’.
Born in the Capitol of U.S - Washington D.C, there is little to remember as I moved to Athens, Greece at the age of 4, where I grew up.
At the age of 18, I moved back to Washington D.C to study photography, and soon enough I was making short experimental films in Super 8 at Maryland University. Straight after my graduation from San Francisco Art Institute in 1984, I was on a plane to New York, where I began Directing commercials and music videos. I continued freelancing till 1989, when I returned to Athens, Greece, after an invitation by a major production company-“Movies” - to bring me in as one of their directors. For a few years I continued freelancing between Athens and New York, until I settled finally in Greece in 1993.
Since then, I have directed over 500 TV commercials, always striving for a good concept that challenges me to take each particular script a step further. I like to work with actors and develop characters, but I also give a lot of attention to framing, composition and the aesthetics of the shot. My work covers a wide range of commercials, from car to comedy, fashion/beauty and more conceptual spots.
